Just like every other sunday, today is Tim Maia sunday…

If you go look on the youtube for clips with the great Soul singer and man of Funk, mostly 80s and 90s shit will come up, and seriously… those weren’t good times for Soul and Funk. Even though Tim Maia sang as good as ever, the musical backdrop suffers from the placebo syndrome. That’s why I bring to you these two wonderful 70s clips.

First we have an energetic performance from 1971 with psychedelic visual tricks and singing in english.

The second and most important clip is a medley from 1974 that finishes of with my personal favorites Azul Da Cor Do Mar and Imunização Racional (Que Beleza). Apart from the sound engineer almost completely cutting out the metal section this clip is straight manna from the desert skies.

Ill Bill recording album with DJ Muggs

This is great news, Ill Bill being one of my favorite rappers, and Muggs one of my favorite producers. The album he did with GZA was pretty good, the one with Sick Jacken had some of the rawest rap tracks from recent times (Land Of Shadows was perhaps the best song of that year) on it, so I’m thinking this should be nothing short of epic.

The project with Sean Price (Pill?) should be very interesting as well. Two unique, hardcore Brooklyn vets sharing the mic; that’s a dream combo. Let Necro handle the production.

Efter att Dogge spelat in klassiker starkt influerad av västkustens berättarstil, Looptroop arbetat fram en blek kopia av vad Non Phixion och Arsonists sysslade med, Ken släppt tio skivor starkt påverkad av New York (hälften boom bap, hälften kommersiellt-känslosamt), Stor gråtit på micken likt Ghostface, och Aki visat att han likt Cormega med lätthet kan kombinera hög teknisk kunnighet med tungt berättande så släpper Stockholmssyndromet lös en video som direkt för tankarna till den smutsigaste södern. Det är Lo-Fi. Det är skita i. Det är beats som påminner om hostmedicin. Det är början på ett nytt kapitel i boken om svensk rap.
